Santiago Gonzalez Jr.'s Obituary
With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Santiago Gonzalez Jr., on Wednesday September 15, 2021 at the age, of 89, in Rio Grande City. Santiago was our dearly loved husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, nephew, and friend. He will be greatly missed by his beloved family and close friends. Santiago was born on August 29,1932 in San Carlos Ranch, in Starr County, Texas, to Santiago Sr., and Sofia Guerra Gonzalez. He is preceded in death by his parents, Santiago Sr., + and Sofia Guerra Gonzalez +, also by his son, Jessie James Gonzalez +. Survivors also include his wife, Emma Barrera Gonzalez and his son, Jerry (Graciela) Gonzalez, and his 4 grandchildren, his brothers, Ramiro (Lucy) Gonzalez, Rufino (Nelda) Gonzalez also many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family, all whom he loved dearly. Visitation is going to be on Friday September 17, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm. Viewing continues on Saturday September 18, 2021 from 9:00 am to 10:50 am, going to Immaculate Church in Rio Grande City at 11:00 am. Follow Burial at Rio Grande City Cemetery at 12:00 pm. Due to the current climate surrounding COVID -19, we are limiting the amount of visitors to our facility and requiring all guests to please wear a mask and observe social distancing. Services are entrusted to Hernandez Funerals in Rio Grande City.
