Santiago D. Valdez Jr.'s Obituary
Santiago Deleon Valdez Jr, passed Tuesday, August 9th, 2022 in Kennewick, Washington. Santiago passed away peacefully of cancer. In his final days, he was surrounded by his family as he faced this challenge with courage, curiosity, humor, and strength. Although the world lost an amazing gentlemen, heaven gained a well worthy angel. Santiago was a dearly loved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and close friends.
Santiago was born on February 9th, 1945 in Bishop, Texas to Santiago Sr., and Celia Deleon Valdez. Santiago resided in Rio Grande Texas. Santiago was married to Otila G. Valdez and together they had six children, Santiago III, Maria Reyes, Jaime, Elizabeth, Robert☦, Steven. Santiago was also a grandfather to Isabel, Guadalupe III, Santiago IV, Jacob, Alexis, Ryan, Jaime II, Clarivel, Ashley, Aleyna, Nayomi, Marissa. Santiago was always striving and known as a hard working man. He worked at Skone & Connors for twenty-three years, then he started a company with his oldest son called DHT where he worked for twenty- five years and then retired.
Santiago was known for always giving such warm hugs and a wonderful smile. You could always find him on the dance floor with his wife, dancing the night away. Santiago loved to spend time in Mexico at his house in Garza. You would see him every morning bright and early on his couch with his legs up and arms behind his head watching the news and weather. He was very passionate about watching football, and keeping up with his favorite cowboy movies. Santiago was loved by so many. Santiago will always be in our hearts and never be forgotten.
A viewing will be held on Friday, August 19th at 12pm until 8pm at Hernandez Funeral Home, 701 E Eisenhower St., Rio Grande City, TX. Church services will be held at Inmaculada Concepcion at 10am on Saturday, August 20th. The address is 101 E Canales Bros St., Rio Grande City, TX. He will be laid to rest at Cementerio La Paz.
