Ruben Klein, 62, life long resident of Rio Grande City passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 29, 2017 in Paradise Island, Bahamas. Mr. Klein was born March 25, 1955 in Rio Grande City, Texas to Esperanza and Aristeo Klein. Mr. Klein worked for the City of Rio Grande City for 44 years, served as a school board member of RGCCISD for 16 years, and Vice Chair for the Starr County Housing Authority for 16 years. Mr. Klein was inducted into the Rio Grande Valley Walk of Fame. He is survived by his loving wife, Adriana (Berlanga) Klein, daughters Betsy (Krystal) Klein, Tracey Klein, and Denise (Dominic) Klein Moriarty, grandchildren Liam and Oliver Klein, siblings Pauline (Johnny) De La Cruz, Aristeo (Ruby) Klein Jr., and Irene Klein, and numerous nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents Aristeo and Esperanza Klein, parents-in-law Adolfo and Maria del Carmen Berlanga, and brother Adrian Klein, brothers-in-law Adolfo Berlanga Jr. and Jaime Berlanga. Mr. Klein loved and cherished his hometown and community. He was an avid sports fan and was very proud of the RGC Rattlers, Grulla Gators, San Antonio Spurs, and Dallas Cowboys. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 12 to 9 p.m. with a Rosary 7 p.m. at Hernandez Funeral Home, in Rio Grande City. A mass will be held at 9 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church on Saturday, July 8, 2017, followed by burial at Starr County Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Hernandez Funerals of Rio Grande City.
