OBITUARY: REYMUNDO GONZALEZ
Reymundo Gonzalez was born on May 2nd, 1939 in La Grulla, Texas to Natividad and Herlinda G. Gonzalez. He was 81 years old when his life expired on May 28, 2020 at the McAllen Heart Hospital.
Reymundo lived a prosperous and adventurous life and lived it to the fullest. As a teenager he was a migrant worker migrating to Powell, Wyoming where he met his beloved wife, Helen S. Gonzalez. As he settled in La Grulla, he became a farmer for many years until he decided to open his own auto sales shop in which he named “Gonzalez Auto Sales”. Years later, Reymundo fulfilled a life-long dream and one he was so proud of which was owning his own ranch that he named “Gonzalez Ranch” in Guerra, Texas. During his life accomplishments, Reymundo also served as Commissioner and as a Mayor for the city of La Grulla in the late 70’s as well as serving in the Appraisal District.
One of Reymundo’s favorite things to do in his life was to travel and be adventurous! From Yellowstone Park to Canada to Costa Rica to climbing the grand pyramids in Mexico just to name a few. His last adventurous trip was to visit his only surviving sister, Amada Medina in Michigan. Reymundo, you lived a great life!
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Sandoval Gonzalez; his daughters, Dora Ruby (Rene Martinez Jr.), Belinda (Pedro A. Flores), Lilia (Darin Tiffin) and Anna Laura (Jose Gomez). He had 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Amada Medina and numerous nieces and nephews.
Reymundo, you will be missed. You are forever in our hearts and never forgotten. Your legacy lives on!!
Funeral services are limited to immediate family only due to the Coronavirus. Visitation will be held on Monday June 01, 2020 at Hernandez Funerals from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a rosary at 6:00 pm. Visitation continues on Tuesday June 02, 2020 from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm going to Holy Family Church in La Grulla at 1:00 pm. Burial Service held at Los Solis's Cemetery in La Grulla at 2:00 pm. Funeral Services are entrusted to Hernandez Funerals of Rio Grande City.
