Petronila “Nellie” V. Mares, age, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday March 2, 2018 in Starr County Memorial Hospital in Rio Grande City surrounded by her family. She was born on April 24, 1934 in Valley Junction, Texas. She is preceded in death by her father, Lucio Vasquez (+), and by her mother, Concepcion G. Vasquez (+), also by her husband, Leonel Mares (+). She is survived by her children, David Medina, Henry Medina, Lupe Medina, and Nicholas Mares, Roberto Mares, Rebecca M. Juarez. Also by her sister, Margaret Sandoval and her brother, Paul Vasquez. She also had 16 grand-children and 21 great-grand-children, 3 great-great-grand-children and numerous nieces & nephews.
