In Loving Memory of Marcelo "Chelo" Carrera Born: September 25, 1952, Passed on September 17, 2023
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a truly exceptional man, Marcelo Carrera, fondly known as Chelo. Chelo was a devoted husband, loving father, doting grandfather, and a cherished friend to many. His life was a testament to dedication and the bonds of love for his family and friends.
Chelo dedicated the better part of his life to serving others, having worked tirelessly. He worked for GTE/Verizon for 32 years and later retired. He also worked part-time with RGCCISD. His commitment to his profession was a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his beloved family.
Beyond his professional life, Chelo was a man of unparalleled kindness. He possessed an innate ability to make everyone feel valued and cherished. His willingness to lend a helping hand knew no bounds, and he touched countless lives through his generosity and compassion. Whether offering a listening ear, extending a helping hand, or sharing his wisdom, Chelo's presence brought warmth and solace to those in need.
Chelo left behind his wife Norma R. Carrera of 46 years of marriage and his two sons, daughter-in-law, and two beautiful granddaughters. Michael Carrera, Marcelo Carrera Jr.(Melissa Wilbur-Carrera), and his two beautiful granddaughters, Sophia and Anastacia Carrera, whom he loved dearly. Chelo had three sisters and one brother, Rosalina Carrera, Gracie Olivarez, Lile Carrera, and Roberto Carrera Jr.
Though Chelo may have departed from our sight, his memory will forever reside in our hearts. We will continue to treasure the stories we shared, the laughter he inspired, and the love he generously gave. Rest in eternal peace, dear Chelo. Your absence will be profoundly felt, but your legacy will endure, transcending the bounds of time.
