Francisco Ruiz's Obituary
Francisco (Pancho) Ruiz, 94, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2019. Francisco was born on September 23, 1924 in Mission, Texas to the late Lazaro and Agapita Ruiz. He served our country in the United States Army and later by working for the United States Department of Agriculture. After that, he spent most the remainder of his life as a self-employed entrepreneur; first by opening and running his own restaurant, then later a successful pest control business that serviced others for several decades. Pancho married his sweetheart America Garza and had 7 children, 17 grandchildren, and 20+ great-grand-children. He resided his entire life in his beloved community of San Isidro, where he loved adopting dogs and naming them by their color. Pancho’s preferred hobby was visiting his favorite store, A & F Mart, on a daily basis to drink coffee and chat with Lesvia & Mary Guerra.
Francisco is preceded in death by his parents, Lazaro & Agapita, his wife, America, and two children, Yolanda & Frankie Jr. He is survived by 5 of his children, Ruby, Raul, Yolinda (Conrado Rivas Jr.), Rene (Jill Ruiz), & Francisco (Anna Hernandez), his sister Lydia (Johnny Longoria), and all of his grand-children and great-grand-children. Funeral arrangements are as follows: Viewing will be held at Hernandez Funeral home in Rio Grande City, Texas from 11am-9pm on Sunday February 24, 2019 with a Rosary at 7pm and a mass will be held Monday February 25, 2019 at 1pm at the San Isidro Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Santa Cruz Cemetery (down Rancho Viejo Rd.) in San Isidro, Texas.
