Francisco G Alvarado's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Francisco G. Alvarado, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, teacher, coach, and businessman, who departed this life on June 11, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on August 1, 1943, in Starr County, Francisco lived a life dedicated to service, leadership, and love. He was a man of strong values and unwavering commitment, both to his family and to the countless lives he touched throughout his career and community involvement. As an educator and coach, Francisco spent 35 years inspiring students both in the classroom and on the field / court. He believed in the power of education, teamwork, and perseverance, and his influence continues in the many young people who credit him with shaping their lives. Whether on the court, the track, or the sidelines, Coach Alvarado led with discipline, encouragement, and heart. Later in life, Francisco brought that same drive and integrity to the world of business. Together with his late brother, Hilario Alvarado Jr., he established Economy Awards Co, which continues to thrive. Along the way, he built lasting relationships based on trust and respect. He approached every endeavor with determination, wisdom, and a vision for building something meaningful. Above all, Francisco was a devoted father, grandfather, friend, and mentor. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 59 years, Elda Alvarado; their three children Mario (Michelle) Alvarado, Monica (Isaac) Lopez, and Myra (Jaime) Carrales; Six grandchildren: Nicole (Jonathan) Lowe, Meagan, Kelsie, Mia, Julianne and Joshua; his sister Maria Margarita Soto; and various nieces and nephews who will carry on his legacy of hard work, compassion, and resilience. He was preceded in death by his parents Hilario and Benita Alvarado Sr., and his brothers Hilario Alvarado Jr and Benito Alvarado. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Hernandez Funerals in Rio Grande City from 11:00am to 8:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm, where family, friends, former students, athletes, and colleagues are welcome to gather and celebrate a life well lived. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Isidore Catholic Church in San Isidro, Texas on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 10:00am. Interment will immediately follow at the Hilario Alvarado Sr Memorial Cemetery in San Isidro. Francisco G. Alvarado was a man of purpose, faith, and quiet strength. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
