Flavio Villarreal Sr.'s Obituary
Flavio Villarreal Sr., of El Sauz, Texas passed peacefully on March 8th 2021 at his residence.
Flavio was born to Hipolito and Isidra P. Villarreal on February 15, 1933. He was a 1952 graduate of
Roma High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany
for 18 months. He married Ernestina A. Villarreal on September 7, 1958. Together they lived and raised
their family in Rio Grande City, TX where Flavio continued his federal service at the U.S. Army Reserves,
soon after, as a United States Customs Service Officer. He retired in 1988 with 34 years of Federal
Service and made his family ranch in El Sauz, Texas is permanent residence. Flavio enjoyed ranching,
hunting and doing his favorite thing, singing and playing his instruments with family and friends. Flavio
also served on various agriculture and civic boards, commissions, and committees in the Starr County
area. He was a proud member of the Board of Directors of Valley Telephone Cooperative for 16 years,
an engaged and accomplished member of the Knights of Columbus Council #9982 (Jose Escandon)
Escobares, TX, he also served on the Starr County Soil & Water Conservation #332, Medina Electric
Cooperative, Veterans of Foreign War Organization, Starr County Appraisal District Review Board and he
was a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in El Sauz. Flavio enriched many lives
and always worked to improve his community.
He is preceded in death by his Parents Hipolito and Isidra P. Villarreal, Grand Daughter, Daniela Villarreal
and his Wife, Ernestina A. Villarreal. He is survived by his children, Flavio Villarreal Jr. (Elena), David
Villarreal (Dolly), Irene Villarreal (Susan). Survivors also include 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren
and numerous nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers: Diego Villarreal, Johnny Galvan, Lino Villarreal Jr., Ricardo Resendez, Noe (Pacho) Villarreal
and Jesus Cantu.
