Benito Alvarado's Obituary
Benito Alvarado, age 57, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Mission Regional Medical Center. Benito was a teacher and a coach for 36 years, spending 16 of those at Ben Bolt, 1 at Falfurrias, and 19 at San Isidro. Although he was a great math teacher, his passion was coaching, whether it was football, basketball, or baseball, and he impacted the lives of many. He was a big Houston Astros fan, but he was an even bigger family man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilario Alvarado Sr. & Benita Garcia Alvarado. He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine Alvarado; son, Aaron Jacob Alvarado; daughter, Alyssa Mariah Alvarado; 2 brothers, Francisco (Elda) Alvarado & Hilario (Alma) Alvarado Jr.; a sister, Maria Margarita (Ubaldo) Soto; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Hernandez Funerals from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at San Isidro Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Alvarado Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Hernandez Funerals of Rio Grande City.
