RIO GRANDE CITY-Benilde G. Olivarez, born in El Refugio Ranch (Rio Grande City) on April 5, 1932, passed away on Wednesday February 27, 2019 at Starr County Memorial Hospital in RGC. She was preceded in death by her husband Rogerio and her son Rufino (Alicia). She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved reading, music and singing, and cooking for her family. Everyone who was part of her life will deeply miss her.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters Belinda (Wayne) Schwartz, Maria de la Luz “Lulu” (Ernesto+) Rocha, Maria Celinda (Pablo) Polito, her sons Rogerio (Mitzie) Olivarez Jr., and Rolando (Allegria) Olivarez, 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., (with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary), on Friday March 1st, and Saturday March 2nd from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Hernandez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday March 2nd at Immaculate Conception Church with interment to follow at the city cemetery in Rio Grande City.
