Armando Vela Jr.'s Obituary
Armando Vela Jr. (Mando), passed away on June 1, 2020 at Doctors Hospital Renaissance. He was born in McAllen, Texas on October 12, 1974.
On February 25, 1995, he married the love of his life, Rosie. He has 3 children: Selena Vela (su Reyna), Armando Vela III (su rey), and his little princess Emma Lynda Vela.
Mando was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, son, uncle, and friend. His passion was his work when he joined R&R Collision Center 10 years ago. Through his job, he not only gained friends, but family. Mando loved barbecuing, although most of the times he would burn the meat. He would not take the blame of course, because it was the barbecue pits fault. After the burnt barbecue, he also played the role of bartender. He would mix random drinks, but they were drinks nonetheless. He was a Cowboys fans through and through, and loved ending a hard week with watching a game on Sunday with an ice cold beer. He enjoyed buying stuff from Craigslist, going to the flea markets on Wednesdays and garage selling on Sundays, most of which he probably didn’t need. He also loved spending time with his family, always planning the next vacation. Most recently, Mando and his family went on a cruise that brought so many memories, but the loud music and the walking was quite exhausting. Perhaps his favorite spot was parking his trailer in Port Isabel and spend every weekend there with his family.
Mando is survived by his wife Rosalba (Rosie), and his children, Selena, Armando (Selena Guerrero), and Emma. He is also survived by his parents, Armando and Elizabeth Vela; his siblings, Gregorio Vela (Maricela Vela), Jessica Ann Vela, and Rebeka Lizzet Vela; his nieces and nephews, Daisy Marie Vela, Gregorio Vela, Gerardo Vela, Brittany Chapa, and Michelle Casas; his close cousins, Javier Vela (Rosie Vela), Saul David Lopez, Lydia Lopez (Jose Lopez), Amparo “Pito” Lopez (Rene Lopez), Criselda Lopez Guerra (Jesus Guerra), Luis Lopez, Alejandro Vela, and all the Vela and Lopez cousins; his father and mother in law Octaviano & Herlinda DeAnda Barrera; Brother in law Ricardo Barrera (Margot Barrera), all the Barrera Family; and all his R&R Collision Family.
Mando will be missed by everyone that got to know him throughout the years. His presence would bring joy and laughter to all those who came to know him. His piercing blue eyes would always catch attention. He would have loved to have still been with us, to make more memories, and although he may not be here in person, he will always be in our hearts, watching over us. He may have gone to be in heaven, but he left us with the wonderful memories that will forever live in our hearts.
Funeral service will be held at Hernandez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City. The viewing will start on Wednesday from 11am-8pm and Thursday 8am-3pm. The burial will follow at El Arroyo Cemetery, Rio Grande City, Texas.
