Velma Alvarez

May 28, 1973 - December 20, 2021

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Velma Alvarez on Monday, December 20, 2021, at the age of 48, in Rio Grande City. She will lovingly be remembered by her mother, Yolanda A. Barrera Alvarez, and her children: Cecilia M. Lozano, Corando M. Lozano, Homero Luis Garcia Jr. Survivors also include her 5 grandchildren, as well as numerous relatives and friends. Velma was preceded in death by her father, Noe Corando Alvarez +. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Hernandez Funerals in Rio Grande City, TX from 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Viewing continues on Friday December 24, 2021 from 8:00 am - 10:45 am with a chapel service at 10:00 am. Follow Burial at Rio Grande City Cemetery at 11:00 am. Due to the current climate surrounding COVID -19, we are limiting the amount of visitors to our facility and requiring all guests to please wear a mask and observe social distancing. Services are entrusted to Hernandez Funerals in Rio Grande City.
