With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Conrado Rivas Jr., on Friday August 6, 2021 at the age of 63. Conrado was our dearly loved husband, father, son, brother, nephew, and friend. He will be greatly missed by his beloved family and close friends. Conrado was born on April 14, 1958 in Rio Grande City, Texas to Conrado Rivas Sr. and Maria G. (Salinas). He is preceded in death by his father, Conrado Rivas Sr., sister, Celia Wilkinson (Jim), and son, Conrado Rivas III. Conrado leaves behind his mother, Maria, his devoted wife of 44 years, Yolinda, three daughters, Rita Rivas (Aaron Escamilla), Amy Rivas (Juan Garcia), Renee Flores (Marcelino Flores), 13 grandchildren, 6 brothers, 6 sisters, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family, all whom he loved dearly. Conrado was a truck driver for over 35 years and no matter his schedule, he always found time to travel and visit family. He instilled strong family and ethical values in his children and taught his daughters the value of independence. His time as a diesel mechanic also served useful in teaching his girls a thing or two about vehicle maintenance and repairs. Conrado was well known for his humor and pranks as well as his selfless attitude, constantly helping others whenever he could. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and he spent as much time as he could with them. Conrado loved taking his grandkids riding around the ranch to check on or feed the animals, taking them hunting, playing with water hoses, barbequing, and roasting marshmallows. A memorial service for Conrado will be held Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Hernandez Funeral Home in Rio Grande City, TX from 12- 8 pm with a rosary at 6:30 pm. Funeral service will be held Friday, August 13, 2021 at San Isidro Catholic Church at 10:00 am followed by burial at the Rivas family cemetery.
